BROCKTON – United Way of Greater Plymouth County recently gathered financial donations for its "United Way’s Warmer Winters Fund”.  The fund is for warm jackets for local children in need in Greater Plymouth County. Over the past five years, over 900 children have been kept warm though this initiative.

Donations were received this year from Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Plymouth, Bridgewater Savings Bank, Good Samaritan Medical Center, Kim & Ellen Hollon, Macy's, National Grid, Peg Page, Mike McCarthy, Rick & Maryanne Noll in memory of Jean Noll, Rockland Trust, Cheryl Showstack, Target Abington, Target Easton, and Target Kingston. With funds from the Hurley Trust and with these generous donations, United Way was able to allocate over $12,000 to help low income children in Greater Plymouth County.

“Year after year, we are overjoyed to see the community unite to help with this initiative,” said United Way President & CEO Dennis Carman, “Working together, we were able to get 250 coats to the kids who really need them this winter.”

The coats were donated to The Family Center at Community Connections of Brockton, Boys & Girls Club of Brockton, Boys & Girls Club of Plymouth, Brockton Area Arc, Brockton Day Nursery, Family & Community Resources, Health Imperatives, Salvation Army of Plymouth, South Shore Resource & Advocacy Center, and The Arc of Greater Plymouth.
