United Way to Offer January 23rd Workshop

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

United Way to Offer January 23rd Workshop

United Way of Greater Plymouth County will host an informational workshop for any nonprofit organization or partnerships of nonprofit organizations interested in applying for United Way funding for FY 2014 (July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014). The workshop will take place on Wednesday, January 23rd from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Stonehill College’s Martin Institute located at 320 Washington Street in Easton, MA.

Request for Proposal (RFP’s) packets will be available at the workshop.  Consistent with United Way Worldwide, United Way of Greater Plymouth County provides funding in three core areas: Education, Health, and Income. Request for Proposals must address one or more of these core areas, demonstrate a capacity to collaborate and leverage additional resources, and provide meaningful and measurable community impact in these areas. Though it is strongly recommended that you attend this workshop if you plan on applying for United Way funding, it is not required.

Education – Helping our children through early learning opportunities to be ready for school, helping our youth to be successful in school and safe through after school initiatives and mentoring in order to ensure their graduation from high school and success in higher education and gainful employment.

Health – Promoting the physical health and healthy living of our neighbors through access to health care services and preventative health education as well as treatment interventions to reduce child abuse, mental illness, substance addictions and domestic violence.

Income - Providing for the basic needs of food, shelter and clothing for our families and our most vulnerable neighbors as well as affording pathways for them to sustainable employment and decent, affordable housing.

Anyone interested in attending the workshop should contact Kim Allen, Director of Community Relations & Marketing, United Way of Greater Plymouth County, at 508 583-6306 ext. 106.
