United Way Distributes 18,000 Drug Prescription Discount Cards!

The United Way of Greater Plymouth County announced that more than 18,000 free FamilyWize prescription drug discount cards are now available to help people with no prescription coverage lower the cost of their medicine. People with health insurance can also use the cards to lower the cost of medicine not covered by their medical insurance.

United Way has distributed 8,000 of these drug prescription discount cards to all of the major pharmacies in the greater Plymouth County. Most pharmacies in the United States accept these prescription drug discount cards. They have no usage or age limits, income requirements or registration forms, and can be used immediately.

Discount cards also can be obtained from Brockton Hospital, Caritas Good Samaritan Hospital, Jordan Hospital, the Brockton Visiting Nurses Association, Old Colony Elder Services, as well as local Councils on Aging. People with Internet access can print a card by visiting the website at www.FamilyWize.com as well as look up drug prices and the list of participating pharmacies.

The FamilyWize prescription drug discount cards are being distributed free of charge by United Way of Greater Plymouth County, and more than 450 other United Way agencies and Alliance Partners in America's Promise in all 50 states and Puerto Rico, as part of in-kind donation by Membership Services Corporation, located in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, and its industry partners. Printing for two million prescription cards was donated by another Pennsylvania company, Independent Graphics of Pittston, Pennsylvania and shipping is being donated by Fedex Express.

"Healthcare costs are one of the top concerns for people in our community and the FamilyWize discount prescription drug cards will help families who otherwise could not afford much needed prescription drugs. We hope the entire community will join us in thanking the pharmacies in our community that have agreed to accept the FamilyWize card and provide these discounts to the people in our community with no prescription drug coverage."
