Former Patriots' Steve Grogan Attends United Way 86th Annual Kick Off
Campaign Goal Set at $1,650,000!

The United Way of Greater Plymouth County held its 86th Annual Kick-Off at the Plimoth Plantation in Plymouth MA on Wednesday, September 12, 2007. Former New England Patriots' Star Quarterback, Steve Grogan, was the keynote speaker. Grogan shared some of the highlights as well as some humorous stories from his sixteen year career (1975-1990) with the Patriots' in which he set many NFL and team records for passing and rushing. Grogan encouraged the sold out audience to "set high goals" and then spend "just five or ten minutes a day" working toward them. He also shared his strong support of United Way. He reminded the attendees that they are leaders and that they have responsibility for using their influence in positive ways to help their community.

During the breakfast the United Way Corporators, who are volunteers from the community, convened in order to elect Erich Briggs of Butcher & Briggs as Secretary of the United Way Board of Directors. In addition, the Corporators voted to endorse this year's United Way Campaign Goal recommended by the United Way Campaign Cabinet at $1,650,000. Bill McCann of Smith Barney Citigroup has agreed to be this year's United Way Campaign Chair.

Matthew Torrance, a student at Quincy College and a Plymouth resident, sang beautiful renditions of "America the Beautiful" and "You Raise Me Up". Francis Dillon, Director of Advancement at Stonehill College, and Vice Chair of the United Way Board of Directors emceed the event.
