Alison is our Family Support Worker, formerly known as our community resource specialist, and has been with us since 2018. Previously she was a community mentor and school liaison, working with all different families. Alison has a Bachelor’s degree in Social Services and is working on her Master’s. With her past experience, Alison is eager to help those in need and become a bridge to help guide those seeking services and aid.
Alison’s responsibilities vary, from building relationships and rapport with families to managing systems for aid such as for housing, utilities, food, and other necessary resources families may be struggling with. An important part of her job is providing the right referrals and following up with families. Her favorite part of her job is being able to participate in helping people of every background – from single mother’s to teenagers with learning disabilities. When being able to provide a family or individual with what they really need, listening and understanding, as well as building the important relationship, Alison feels she truly makes a difference for families in our community.
If Alison could make a big, positive change to the world, it would be to ensure all people have access to the necessary resources such as food, housing, and healthcare. She would love to be able to help people or change everyday finances and the cost of living, and to provide and even build more affordable housing. Lastly, she would love to create and provide more programming and resources for people impacted by cancer and special needs. In her spare time, Alison enjoys spending time with her family and time outdoors.
