BROCKTON – United Way of Greater Plymouth County has begun fundraising for its 6th Annual "United Way Warmer Winters Fund” to purchase warm jackets for local children in need in Greater Plymouth County by respectfully asking for community support for this initiative.

Since its start in 2015, United Way’s Warmer Winters Initiative has helped over 1,200 children in greater Plymouth County stay warm. Given what is likely to be one of the harshest winter seasons in memory due to the pandemic, and because the need continues to increase as freezing temperatures are soon headed our way, the need is greater than ever. Donations will go directly to United Way’s Family Center and to United Way’s partner agencies to provide our youth with one of their most basic needs - a (toasty) winter coat to help them stay safe and continue on the path to a bright future.

“We are thrilled to see the community come together, especially during these unprecedented times, to help us spread the warmth,” said Dennis Carman, United Way of Greater Plymouth County President & CEO.  “This year, we are asking for donors to consider making a gift in honor of someone in their lives that has kept them warm.  This could be a parent, partner, or friend that had given them a jacket as a child themselves or kept them ‘warm’ by sharing joy and inspiration during challenging times.”

For more information and to donate, please contact Connie Hundt, Director of Resource Development at 508-583-6306 ext. 104 connieh@uwgpc.org or Laura Murphy, Donor Engagement Specialist at lmurphy@uwgpc.org ext. 102.  More information can be found at www.uwgpc.org.   Donations are gratefully accepted by cash, check, or credit card through November 20th.
