Local United Way Raises $11,850 to Purchase Winter Coats for Children
BROCKTON – United Way of Greater Plymouth County recently raised money for its 5th Annual "United Way Warmer Winters Fund” to purchase warm jackets for local children in need in Greater Plymouth County. Since 2015, this initiative has helped over 1,000 children to keep warm.
Generous donations were received this year from Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Plymouth, Bridgewater Savings Bank, Good Samaritan Medical Center, Macy's, National Grid, Mike McCarthy, Rick & Maryanne Noll in memory of Jean Noll, Cheryl Showstack, Target Easton, and Target Kingston. With funds from the Hurley Trust and with these compassionate donations, United Way was able to allocate $11,850 to help low income children in Greater Plymouth County.
“We are continually overjoyed to see the community unite to support our ‘Warmer Winters’ initiative,” said United Way President & CEO Dennis Carman, “Working together, we have been able to provide children with 280 new winter coats.”
The funds to purchase coats were donated to The Family Center at Community Connections of Brockton, The Arc of Greater Plymouth, Brockton Area Arc, Brockton Day Nursery, Brockton Visiting Nurse Association, Family & Community Resources, Father Bills & Mainspring, and Health Imperatives.
