United Way Welcomes Nasreen Shibli to its Board of Directors

The newest members of United Way’s Board of Directors: Nasreen Shibli

BROCKTON, MA - United Way of Greater Plymouth County (UWGPC) is thrilled to announce that Nasreen Shibli, Field Education Specialist and Coordinator at Bridgewater State University has recently joined its Board of Directors.   

UWGPC President & CEO Dennis Carman expressed his enthusiasm about Ms. Shibli stating, “I am beyond thrilled! Nasreen is a fantastic addition to our Board.  She has an outstanding social work and community organizing background and we are honored to work with her in this new role.”

Ms. Shibli has more than 30 years of experience in community based non-profit organizations and educational institutions.   She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Stonehill College and her Master of Social Work from Boston College Graduate School of Social Work with a concentration in Macro Social Work and Gerontology.  Additionally, she earned a Higher Education Leadership Programs for Women (HERS) Certificate on Women in Higher Education Administration.   In her role at Bridgewater State University, Ms. Shibli identifies and matches students for BSW and MSW placements, organizes social work department conferences and events, is a Social Worker Alumni Committee member and a Social Work Racial Justice Council member, among many other items.  Previously, she worked as Director of Governmental Affairs and Public Policy at the National Association of Social Workers and Director of Planning & Community Development at South Shore Elder Services.  

In regards to her community organizing skills, Ms. Shibli served as President for Community Services of Greater Brockton, Board Member of the National Association of Social Workers PACE, President of the MA Gerontology Association, and many other associations.  

Ms. Shibli has language skills in Bengali and other Indian languages.  In her spare time, she enjoys music (vocal, Indian classical, Tagore, Nazrul and Folk), dance choreography (Indian style) and traveling.
